Danny Maccabee (Adam Sandler) rencontre la fille de ses rêves (Brooklyn Decker) mais doit enrôler sa fidèle assistante Katherine (Jennifer Aniston) pour faire semblant d'être sa future ex-femme afin de dissimuler un mensonge imprudent.
